Exciting times are ahead for the future Economic Development
of Lake County, Florida. This is good news for the Commercial
Real Estate Industry here in Lake County! All the right
components are falling into place to put Lake County in the
forefront of future economic growth in Central Florida. With
the new direction and focus of our county and municipal
government elected officials, there is a county wide effort
and consensus to bring industry, new business and jobs to the

Geographically Lake County is a very large county that is over
50 miles long and approximately 37 miles wide at its longest
and widest points. To address the sheer size of Lake County,
Florida, the following quote is from the new Lake County
Director of the Office of Economic Development & Tourism.
"The County has many challenges when trying to offer support
to our local businesses using a centralized approach,” said
Scott Blankenship, Director of the Office of Economic
Development & Tourism. “By dedicating an expert to cover each
of the three different regions, not only will there be a more
hands-on approach to supporting our local businesses, but also
better coordination with our municipalities, which creates
synergy to economic development initiatives throughout the
region."
The City of Tavares, now designated as America’s Seaplane
City, has built a Sea Plane basin, Marina and Re-fueling
station and has already attracted a sea plane manufacturer to
their city. This is just the beginning of their Economic
Development Strategy.
The City of Leesburg is making great strides towards Economic
Development in trying to bring new business and industry to

The City of Leesburg has also waived all Impact Fees as
another incentive. The city has been designated a "Smart Grid
City" and they are a Federal Electric Grant Award Winner.
The $1.8 Billion “Wekiva Parkway” Project, a huge
transportation corridor connecting Orange, Lake and Seminole
Counties, is on track to be completed in the next 5 to 10
years and will have an enormous impact on future economic
growth, particularly in the Northeast portion of Lake County.
This corridor is the final piece that will complete the
Orlando-Orange County Expressway roadway project that will
circle the perimeter of the Greater Orlando area including the
four Central Florida Counties of Orange, Seminole, Lake and
Osceola.
