Lake County Florida Hotel & Hospitality Real Estate
From
friendly bed and breakfast inns to posh resorts, Lake County
is home to Central Florida’s best variety of lodging options.
Lake County sports a mix of cozy inns, family-owned motels,
spacious vacation rentals and prestigious national chain
hotels. Additional popular lodging options for this naturally
gifted area are cabins, campgrounds and recreational-vehicle
parks. Just minutes from Central Florida’s theme parks, these
lodging choices provide the perfect respite for visiting
families and Sunshine State tourists. Hotel room capacities
range from 50 to 85 rooms each on average.
What there is not enough of and will be a need for in the
foreseeable future are conference/convention/hotel facilities
with at least 200 plus room capacity. There is currently only
one facility in Lake County to accommodate conventions or
conferences of any size and that is the Mission Inn Resort &
Club, which has a 200 room capacity, but is located in a rural
area of Lake County. The transportation corridors of the
Florida Turnpike, SR 27, SR 19 and Hwy 441 offer many
opportunities for Hotel/Conference Facility locations.
There are many opportunities for additional accommodations
with Lake County’s close proximity to Orlando’s theme parks
from Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Studios Orlando to
SeaWorld Orlando and Legoland Florida not to mention NASCAR’s
Daytona 500 and Coca Cola 400, Daytona Bike Week, Leesburg
Bike Fest, Mount Dora Art Festival and many more events that
Lake County hosts every year. Many of Lake County’s premiere
events will draw upwards to 300,000 people for one event. With
those kinds of numbers there are never enough accommodations
to handle that many people.
Lake County is home to major national fishing tournaments like
ESPN Bassmaster Elite Tour, Bassmaster Open Series, Crappie
Masters National Championship and many others that need
accommodations for up to 500 anglers, staff and production
personnel. Finding space for their seminars and award banquets
is always a challenge. This is another reason we need
conference facilities that can hold up to at least 500 with
ability to cater and feed them. There is currently no facility
in Lake County that can accommodate them a except the college
gymnasium.
There are several locations for an
opportunity to develop and build a premier
Hotel Convention Center with a
waterfront venue that would draw from not only Lake County but
also from the surrounding areas.
There is a great need for this type of facility and the county
government would be very supportive. The current Lake County
Commission is a very proactive, “business friendly” group and
are developing new incentive programs through their economic
development department to attract new businesses and
investment, as well as growing existing companies already
located here.
The
Florida Green Lodging Program was
established in 2004 by the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection with the intent of recognizing and rewarding
environmentally conscientious lodging facilities in the state.
Gov. Charlie Christ signed an executive order effective July
1, 2008, which states agencies shall contract for meeting and
conference space only with hotels or conference facilities
that have received the "Green Lodging" designation from the
Department of Environmental Protection for best practices in
water, energy, and waste efficiency standards, unless the
responsible state agency head makes a determination that
neither viable alternative exists.
